JAMBO…One of the few words I learned in Nairobi, Kenya. I was blessed to be one of the many entrepreneurs to take part in the 6th Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kenya co-hosted by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and U.S. President Barack Obama. For the first time, business owners, policymakers, educators and investors were all together in sub-Saharan Africa for a Global Entrepreneurship Summit ( GES Kenya 2015 ). President Barack Obama launched the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in 2010 to encourage young innovators with mentorship, training and funding. As the founder/president of NETSO Media , it was truly an honour to have been selected to travel to this beautiful country. I am grateful to the U.S. Embassy Ottawa for the sponsorship.

The summit kicked off on July 24 with the annual Youth + Women Day. We had the privilege of hearing the story of the U.S. recording artist and entrepreneur Akon. He spoke about his challenges as a young African growing up in the United States and how being in jail for 6 six months turned his life around.
