The Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars band was formed by a group of refugees during the Sierra Leone Civil War. In the 1990s, the country had been in a civil war causing many people to flee. Reuben, Grace Koroma and Francis John Langba, all three musicians, decided to entertain their neighbours by playing music for them. After a couple of months, they moved to another camp and met Arahim Jah Voice, Mohammed Bangura, Alhadji Jeffrey Kamara and Emperors DanceBand, who joined the band.

They dropped their first album, Living Like A Refugee, on September 2006. Some of the songs were recorded in exile in the refugee camps, and others were recorded in a studio in Freetown. Mixing reggae, jazz and traditional African percussions, Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars produce music that calls for peace, love and happiness.

Check out their new album, Libation, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the making of their first album.
